This update follows Primo Contatto's rolling release approach, therefore the revisions specified below are now available to all players and game masters subscribed to the Diventi community.

Primo Contatto's 1.2 update is one of the most significant in recent months. We have unified the tool properties and applied various balances to the areas of effect, predispositions, and origins, in addition to formalizing different playstyles to help the game master adapt to the group of players. These changes aim to further stimulate the imagination and immersion opportunities for all participants.

New: Playstyles

Now players and game masters can activate different styles that significantly vary the Primo Contatto experience.

  • Normal Game: Gifts can be invoked at will and hyperio is recoverable by exploring the world.
  • Advanced Variant: The flow-to-hyperio conversion and the transmutation laboratory become available. Furthermore, non-favored flows linked to a gift must be removed with each use.
  • Narrativist Variant: The game master introduces technology as a special effect in the most important situations, granting it as a reward token for particularly effective roleplaying.

Characteristic Changes

  • Audacity: now determines the maximum number of flows that a character can hold in reserve.
  • Mastery: now determines the maximum number of flows that a character can use to enhance a gift.
  • Destiny: now determines how well a character is able to obtain new flows from the environment.

Gift Changes

  • Flows: In the advanced variant, non-favored flows must now be discarded once used in gifts.
  • The interaction check in free mode has been introduced, through which characters can recover new flows from the environment.
  • The character can now sacrifice a tech flow from their reserve to obtain one unit of hyperio.
  • Powers: Martyrdom no longer inhibits the character, but removes 1 life point from them.
  • Instability no longer grants advantage, but immobilizes the targets hit.
  • The cost of creating a new power in the transmutation laboratory changes from 1 flow to 2 non-tech flows or 1 tech flow.

Tool Changes

  • The "touch" area of effect now reaches the character or one allied target in the immediate vicinity, instead of any target.
  • The "melee" area of effect now reaches one enemy target in the immediate vicinity, instead of any target.
  • "Rudimentary shield" has been renamed "wooden shield."
  • "Improvised blade" has been renamed "blunt knife."
  • "Rudimentary truncheon" has been renamed "recycled truncheon."
  • "Rudimentary flask" has been renamed "explosive flask."
  • "Simple bayonet" has been renamed "standard-issue bayonet."
  • "Simple fabric bandages" have been renamed "cotton armor."
  • "Simple bare bow" has been renamed "compound bow."
  • "Refined shield" has been renamed "buckler with a hook."
  • "Enchanted staff" has been renamed "staff of wild fury."
  • "Simple totem" has been renamed "runic totem."
  • "Empowered sidereal blade" has been renamed "sidereal blade."
  • Guardian's totem: Enchanted (water) and Empowered (manifestation) effects added.

MTM Changes

  • Added the ability to activate the MTM through a narrativist description. In particular, the player can recover 1 hyperio by associating the color of the MTM with a physical element present in the situation. This option can be used once per game session.

Origin Changes

  • Iperians lose the "supplemental power" but gain "hyperian resistance" which halves the effects of one attack suffered once per day.
  • The "advantaged characteristic" of outsiders now does not add 1 to the favored characteristic but enhances it once per day.
  • "Persistent hyperio" of post-humans no longer cancels the decay of hyperio following a rest but allows the use of tech objects without hyperio once per day.
  • "Supplemental flow" of natives allows adding 1 initial flow to the reserve regardless of the character's Audacity score.

Predisposition Changes

  • The technological predisposition no longer allows the use of tech flows without hyperio, but allows the character to sacrifice 1 life point to obtain 1 unit of hyperio.

Other General Changes

  • Descriptive paragraphs have been updated in various sections to make them more engaging."
